Aphrodisiac foods stimulate the imagination. Seducing with recipes that are both delicious and exciting is an excellent idea for Valentine's Day. "The aphrodisiac effects are essentially twofold," explains chef Apollo: "mechanical in men, because they promote erections and help maintain them, and hormonal in women, because they allow for greater estrogen secretion." Why not cook these foods if they're likely to add a little spice to a date night? Here are five to discover without further ado:
Red meat
The high level of L-carnitine in beef is said to boost testosterone levels and libido. Chef Guillaume Cantin recommends red meat when creating an aphrodisiac menu: "This type of protein contains zinc, which reduces the secretion of prolactin, a hormone associated with sexual dysfunction and loss of desire in both men and women."

To cook: a traditional beef bourguignon or a beef carpaccio with arugula and balsamic vinegar.
Le chocolat
Releasing endorphins, the hormone of happiness and pleasure, chocolate regularly finds itself among the top aphrodisiac foods. It is also said to stimulate sexual desire, thanks to phenylethylamine. However, to be effective, it must contain at least 70% cocoa.
To cook: a pork fillet with chocolate sauce or a delicious fondant.
Ginger
Energizing, ginger is said to act primarily through its smell, stimulating blood circulation... even to the genitals! This root is said to be used particularly in Asia to facilitate erections.
To cook: a chicken and vegetable stir-fry with ginger or fish served with soy and ginger sauce.

Asparagus
The discovery of asparagus's aphrodisiac properties dates back to ancient Rome, although at the time these properties were attributed to its phallic shape. Now, we know that it actually contains phytoestrogens, which help increase the secretion of sex hormones.
To cook: asparagus sautéed with lemon or grilled in the oven with a little parmesan.

The celery
Celery is commonplace? Certainly not when you want to seduce your loved one! In fact, it is said to contain apigenin, whose vasodilatory effects are thought to affect sperm formation. In fact, an old saying goes: "If a woman knew what celery does to a man, she would go from Paris to Rome to get some."
To cook: a rack of lamb accompanied by celery purée or a celery and leek velouté.
